UNLV junior third baseman T.J. White and senior first baseman Patrick Armstrong were selected on the final day of the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Saturday as the Minnesota Twins picked White in the 18th round at 530th overall and the Los Angeles Angels picked Armstrong in the 39th round at 1,169th overall.
UNLV junior pitcher John Richy became the second Rebel to be taken in the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Friday as the Los Angeles Dodgers selected him in the third round at 98th overall. It is the first time in history that two Rebels were selected in the top 100 picks of the MLB draft.
UNLV junior pitcher Erick Fedde becomes the third Rebel in school history to be taken in the first round when he was selected as the 18th overall pick by the Washington Nationals to open the three-day 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Thursday.
The UNLV volleyball program unveiled its 2014 schedule on Tuesday. The Rebels have 33 matches on the docket with 15 of those played at the Cox Pavilion and the remaining 18 taking place on the road. The squad opens up the season with its first 14 matches spread over four consecutive tournaments followed by one non-conference affair against Southern Utah and 18 straight versus Mountain West foes.
