The UNLV volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 set deficit to defeat the Utah State Aggies on Thursday night by a 3-2 final score at the Cox Pavilion. UNLV opened up with a 25-16 win in the first period, but dropped the second (25-21) and third (25-18) before it was forced to make a comeback. The Rebels fought back to even the contest at 2-all with a 25-19 victory in the fourth before a 15-10 triumph in the fifth and final stanza.
After the first day of action, its obvious the 2013 UNLV Fall Invitational will be one of the fastest swim meets this season, with several top times in the nation posted at Buchanan Natatorium, including two by the 25th-ranked UNLV men's squad.
The UNLV women's golf team received a second signed national letter of intent from Mackenzie Raim head coach Amy Bush-Herzer announced on Thursday. She will be eligible for the Rebels starting with the 2014-15 season and joins Harley Dubsky as a signee this year.
Former UNLV track & field standout Amanda Bingson is a finalist for three USA Track & Field Fan's Choice Awards. Bingson, who broke the American record twice in the hammer throw at the 2013 USA Outdoor Championships en route to a national title, is up for the "Field Performance of the Year," "Breakthrough Athlete of the Year," and "Best Record Breaking Performance."
UNLV baseball received signed national letters of intent from nine high school student-athletes who will enroll next fall and be eligible to begin play during the 2014-15 season for the Rebels, head coach Tim Chambers announced Wednesday.
