The UNLV softball team scored early and often Thursday in the first inning of its 6-1 win over the Utah State Aggies at Eller Media Stadium. The Rebels were led offensively by two RBI apiece from Tayler Van Acker and Jamie DePippo, while Amanda Oliveto held the Aggies at bay with a six-hitter.
The UNLV women's golf team is 14th at the NCAA Central Regional, which is being played at the par-72, 6,200 yard, Karsten Creek Golf Course. The team posted a first round score of 19-over-par 307 on Thursday.
The UNLV Rebels continue their five-game homestand at Eller Media Stadium with three games against the Utah State Aggies this week. The three-game, Mountain West series will begin Thursday evening with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 pm. Friday's affair will also begin at 6:00 pm, while Saturday's is slated for 1:00 pm. The finale is also billed as "Senior Day" for the softball program, as UNLV will recognize its five seniors - Jaexie Balilea, Pauline Monreal, Amanda Oliveto, Stefany Valentino and Taylor Van Acker - before the contest.
For the third straight year, Lady Rebel head coach Kathy Olivier served as Susan G. Komen Honorary Chair, and was joined by several members of the Lady Rebels in participating in the 19th annual Susan G. Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure this past weekend in downtown Las Vegas.
