WHAT: Brookings Mountain West at UNLV welcomes Ron Haskins, Brookings Institution senior fellow and co-director of the Center on Children and Families, for "Creating an Opportunity Society"
WHEN: Tuesday, April 6, 2010 - 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Greenspun Hall Auditorium at UNLV
Free and open to the public
DETAILS: America presents citizens and immigrants with great opportunity to get ahead. Even so, there is less mobility in America than in other industrialized nations and perhaps less than in the past. Individuals, parents, communities, and governments at all levels can do a lot to promote mobility and opportunity. Specific proposals for increasing opportunity, many supported by good evidence, will be presented.
The Brookings Scholars program - a product of Brookings Mountain West - welcomes leading experts from the Brookings Institution to UNLV each month to lend insight on key regional issues through interaction with campus and community leaders, collaborative research and a free public lecture held in conjunction with each scholar's visit to campus.
