Eric Whitacre, ’95 Bachelor of Music, couldn't attend the Alumni of the Year awards ceremony this year so he sent in a touching video instead. Among those the College of Fine Arts honoree credits with his success is professor David Weiller. Whitacre is composer in residence at Sidney Sussex College at Cambridge University in the U.K. He was turned on to classical music, when he joined UNLV’s choir and performed Mozart’s Requiem. He still acknowledges and credits his mentors David B. Weiller and Jocelyn K. Jensen from UNLV as his early influences.
